Emilie (Maggie Grace) and Snow (Guy Pearce) try to come up with an escape plan in “Lockout.”

Lockout - One of my guilty pleasures of the year. Guy Pearce (“Prometheus“) is a throwback 80s action hero tasked with saving the president’s daughter (“Lost’s” Maggie Grace), who is stranded on an outer space prison. The film’s a lot of fun when Pearce and Snow interact and checks off every bad action movie cliche when he’s not onscreen.

Larry (Sean Hayes), Moe (Chris Diamantopolous) and Curly (Will Sasso) plot their next move in “The Three Stooges.”

The Three Stooges – Chris Diamantopoulos, Will Sasso and Sean Hayes try to make Larry, Curly and Moe cool for a new generation as they try to keep their childhood home open by serving as maintenance men, but their efforts soon put them in the middle of a murder mystery and starring roles on a popular reality show. Anytime your movie needs a cameo by “Jersey Shore’s” Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino for credibility you’ve got major problems.

(From left) Alex (Chris O’Dowd), Missy (Kristen Wiig), Leslie (Maya Rudolph) and Ben (Jon Hamm).

Friends with Kids – Jennifer Westfeldt stars, writes and directs this look at two best friends (Westfeldt and “Parks and Recreation’s” Adam Scott) who want kids, but none of the complications that result from them. The film is like a mini-”Bridesmaids” reunions reuniting stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd and Jon Hamm so if nothing else, you know this has an excellent supporting cast and may be worth a rental.

Casa de mi Padre – Will Farrell covers a Western spoken entirely in Spanish as he plays the elder brother whose younger brother’s bad business deal puts the family in conflict with a noted drug lord. The tagline for it “The funniest movie you’ll ever read” is pretty clever, but it’s not one worth the trouble. The thing about comedies is you want to leave your brain at the door and who wants to do that pesky reading thing when you’re laughing?
