Bane (Tom Hardy) prepares to clash with Batman (Christian Bale) in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ action thriller “The Dark Knight Rises.”
“The Dark Knight Rises” grabbed about $850,000 on Friday, which was good enough to get past “E.T.” for the #8 spot on the all-time highest grossing list at $435,110 and bring its total to $435,414.
It trails “Shrek 2′s” $441 million take, but that seems to be a formality now although I can’t see it knocking out “Star Wars,” which sits at #6 with $460 million.
Internationally, “TDKR” has earned $1,013 billion and moved up another notch to #12. The film it beat out? None other than “The Dark Knight,” which has $1,003 billion.
It could catch up to “Alice in Wonderland’s” $1,024 billion haul to reach #11 and has an outside chance of catching “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” at $1,027 billion. “Phantom Menace” is interestingly enough the only “Star Wars” movie on the all-time worldwide list. That could be interesting in the next few weeks.

Very interesting. I went to see this again on thursday night, and enjoyed it every bit as much as when i saw it before(And understood a bit more of Bane’s speech this time…).
Looks like there’s still life in this movie yet…

Definitely think so too Barry. How crowded was the Thursday showing?

Well twenty minutes before “lights out” when the trailers start, i bought the ONLY TWO TICKETS so far sold(The guy on the box office said we would have the entire auditorium to ourselves). And it started out that way. We went in and sat down in an empty room. But the best part was when ten minutes later, couples started filtering in and five minutes after that, when the trailers started, the place was at least half full. I was kind of pleased that it was so busy in the end. People are still watching. And i caught the occasional whispered comment from watchers hinting at what was to come in certain scenes(Just a little line hinting that the watcher had seen the movie before), so a few people there were repeat viewers like myself.
I’m not sure how much action is left in the box office. But i would like to go and see it at the cinema at least once more. If they are still showing it here next week i will catch it again before it finally leaves.
The last time i went to see a movie more than twice at the cinema was Avatar…
