They are doing that “Prometheus” thing with the hard, long, loud chord played in between each cut. I think that’s a great technique to build the tension in the trailer. It works very well. As i said before, i shall reserve judgement till i see it. I am a huge fan of the book, so if they can even include half the visuals from the book, i will be happy.

  • The trailer was my favorite part of “Prometheus.” Hopefully this one does a bit better. 😉

Lol. It was a real shame about Prometheus… So much it *could* have been and wasn’t… Have you watched the Blu Ray with the writer’s commentary?

  • Nah. I haven’t worked up the nerve to want to sit through that again. Not when there’s so many other movies I’d rather watch. 😉

Haha. I bought the Blu Ray *specifically* because there was a commentary, to see if there was method in their madness. Turns out the original writer had the entire story worked out: Planet was LV426, A chamber of the ship contained Alien Eggs, David infected Elizabeth with a facehugger(To see if that was the “cure” Weyland was looking for), Space Jockey was infected with an alien also, and died when the Alien escaped from his chest when he was taking off.
The seeds of that story are still there in what was filmed.
It seems it wasn’t punchy enough, so Lindelhoff was brought in to spice it up.
And totally, completely, ruin it, lol.

  • That does sound much better than what we got. I’m surprised Lindelhoff ruined it so thoroughly.

My brother had a list of “If only the movie contained this then it would have satisfied…” and without fail, every beat he wanted included(But was missing), Jon Spaihts mentions those points were in his original draft, but were changed when Lindelhoff was hired to tighten up the script…
So much it could have been. Perhaps when the sequel gets made, we will get a tighter beam of light on actual story telling. It cost $130,000,000 and has brought in over $400,000,000 worldwide so far, so a sequel is a strong possibility. “Profitable” movies with more story to tell usually get a sequel chance. And i recall reading once that profitable is gauged on a movie covering it’s own cost and making twice that in addition, so we may yet get closure on this part of the story.
