One of my more pleasant movie surprises last year was “The Amazing Spider-Man.” While I hated on it mercilessly for being a remake far too early, when I stopped griping and sat down to watch it, I thought the only thing wrong with it was that it hadn’t come soon enough. Sarcastic Spider-Man = here’s more of my money. Take it please.
About the only thing I didn’t like with the movie was the costume, which was a little too dark. Problem solved with the costume for the sequel, which looks like it leaped straight from the comics.
This is much more in keeping with the comic book appearance so instead of the reflective silver eye pieces in the original, we’ve got a blank white and there looks to be a better emphasis on the red and blue blend as opposed to the first one that was predominantly blue with red accents.
The new costume also looks a lot less busy and the designers don’t seem to going to a more traditional outfit instead of making it distinctive from the original Sam Raimi trilogy.
Here’s how it looks compared to the original movie costume. Which one do you prefer?
Director Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are reprising their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy and this time they’ll be joined by Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx as Spider-Man villain Electro, Dane DeHaan as Peter’s best friend Harry Osborn, Shailene Woodley as Gwen’s romantic rival for Peter’s affection Mary Jane Watson and Paul Giamatti as villain The Rhino.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” comes to theaters May 2, 2014 and I can’t wait for it.
