Carrie Fisher says Princess Leia will be back for "Star Wars: Episode VII"

Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in Star Wars The Empire Strikes BackIn a recent interview Mark Hamill said he hopes that all of the major characters from the original “Star Wars” trilogy returns for “Star Wars: Episode VII” from Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian and so on.

Harrison Ford has apparently signed on to reprise his role as Han Solo and now Carrie Fisher has confirmed in a Palm Beach Illustrated interview that she will be reprising her role as Princess Leia.

When asked how she thought Leia is like now she replied:

Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.Carrie Fisher in 2011

I’m glad to hear she’ll be back as both she and Hamill never seemed to regret being forever linked to their iconic characters and didn’t seem to resent not becoming major box office stars like Ford did so it’s nice to know they’ll soon be back on the “A” list if even for a brief amount of time.

What do you think? Looking forward to seeing the adventures of a much older Luke, Han and Leia or would you prefer a new trio leading the next set of Star Wars films?

I am afraid this in going to be STARS WARS in a rest home.(smile) The Screen play is going to very creative. The best we can hope for the answer of questions like “Whatever happen to?”

  • I’m not too worried based on the screenwriter’s previous work. It should be good either way.
