In sharing the pictures from the Sydney, Australia premiere of “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” I wondered when we’d start to see the other cast members join their co-stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona, Lee Byung-hun and director Jon M. Chu in promoting the film.
And no sooner do I mention that then reinforcements arrive with most of the other principal actors besides Bruce Willis, the most prominently placed cast member in the latest promotional posters. Ray Park (Snake-Eyes) still hasn’t made the rounds, but there’s been several “ninja stand-ins” to help soften the blow for any of his fans.
London was calling Channing Tatum (Duke), Jonathan Pryce (U.S. President/Zartan), Ray Stevenson (Firefly) and Elodie Yung (Jinx) as they dealt with a little rain to join their cast mates for the U.K. premiere of the film.
Getting Tatum into more of the movie was one of the alleged reasons for Paramount Pictures delaying the film from its original June 29, 2012 release date so if nothing else it’s a good sign that he’s taking part in the promotional efforts.
I’ve got a feeling that “Elodie Yung” is going to become a very popular search term for the next couple of weeks, especially if she’s any good in the film as Snake-Eyes’ ninja partner.
And I’d be remiss in not appreciating Byung-hun, Palicki and Cotrona for looking like they’re having a blast at every one of these screenings. They may not be big stars like Johnson or Tatum and they may not get this kind of big spotlight again and they definitely look like they’re appreciating every second. Good for them.
So we’re the last ones on this world premiere tour, but the wait will soon be over as “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” comes to theaters on March 28.
