Now You See Me – One of the come from out of nowhere enjoyable films so far this year. It boasts an impressive cast [Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Caine], a fun script and inspired direction from Louis Leterrier. There’s one component you don’t necessarily get enough of through the film, but now with a sequel announced that may get developed more in the next installment.
Empire State – It’s amazing that a movie featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and rising stars Liam Hemsworth (“The Hunger Games“) and Emma Roberts (“We’re the Millers“) failed to get a chance to make any impact at the box office, but this went straight to home video and seems destined for many a stint on late night cable.
The film is about two childhood friends (Hemsworth and Roberts) who plan to rob an armored car, provided they can get past a NYPD officer (Johnson).
Sounds absolutely riveting, don’t it?
Still, this has got to be pretty bad for Lionsgate to not consider it worth the trouble of releasing it in theaters even on a limited basis.
It’s not the classic as some of the TV episodes, but it’s MST3K so you know exactly what you’re in for and this theatrical version doesn’t let fans down.
