Thoughts on "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" trailer

Hmmn.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Spider-Man vs Electro

I like it, but just like “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” I’m wondering if this isn’t a case of too much for one movie. We’ve got Jamie Foxx’s Electro, someone who is using The Green Goblin’s glider (Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osborne perhaps?) and some mech-inspired abomination masquerading as The Rhino. Sigh. None of the movie villain looks are all that encouraging though, but at least it’s got Spider-Man in the #1 comic book movie costume.

Spider-Man Sinister SixIt’s weird as I’d completely be on board for a Spider-Man movie where he’s taking on The Sinister Six, but I’m not getting the sense this is a Spidey-villain team up and I’m wondering if there’s enough time to develop Electro, work in Rhino and somehow create a new subplot with The Green Goblin. Seems like an awful lot to throw in one movie.

But I’m willing to give it a shot since I loved the first film so much and can’t think of a better Spider-Man than Andrew Garfield’s perfect portrayal.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” comes to theaters May 2.

  • I like this trailer more than X-Men DOFP. I think this movie will build towards a villain teamup later in the franchise. I do share your thoughts about if the movie can develop Electro and work in Harry Osborne subplot but I’m very hopeful.

  • I’ll be cautiously optimistic. Were I to rank them, I’d go
    1. Cap: Winter Soldier
    2. Guardians of the Galaxy
    3. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
    4. X-Men: DOFP

  • Guardians of the Galaxy is a big wild card for me. I’m also cautiously optimistic, it could be great or so-so.

  • I wasn’t sure what to expect either, but the teaser in “Thor: The Dark World” definitely piqued my interest. Now it’s time to see that trailer!
