Gary Oldman? Benedict Cumberbatch? Harrison Ford? Adam Driver? According to Starwars.com all of those pesky casting rumors will soon be a thing of the past since principal shooting is set for May. And then you all can move on to more important matters like complaining about the outfits and how J.J. Abrams is ruining your last few positive memories of Star Wars or whatever else prequel haters gripe about.Disney and Lucasfilm are excited to announce that principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams, will commence May 2014, and will be based at London’s historic Pinewood Studios.
It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. No further details on casting or plot are available at this time.
Star Wars: Episode VII will release in theaters on December 18, 2015.
Maybe I’m making more of this than it is, but does anyone else find the timing for the shooting to be a bit coincidental seeing as how late May is the release for “X-Men:Days of Future Past,” a film distributed by Star Wars’ former distributor, 20th Century Fox? Nothing like Star Wars news to steal the thunder of pretty much every other franchise, isn’t it?
