The Monuments Men – George Clooney and Matt Damon headline a film that takes a remarkable true life story and manages to make it a dull, boring history lesson. The pair (along with Bill Murray, John Goodman and more) are tasked to prevent the Nazis from destroying the countless art treasures they’ve amassed in the waning days of World War II. It seems hard to mess up the story, but Clooney, who directed and co-wrote the film, can’t ever convey the events to make for a compelling and entertaining viewing.

Pompeii – It’s becoming a tight race for worse film of the year, but so far this one is my film to beat. Kit Harrington has the misfortune of starring in this disaster “epic” about a gladiator competing in Pompeii just as Mount Vesuvius prepares to erupt. If you’ve desperately got to see it for some reason, this has decent 3D so if you have the option watch it in that format. Otherwise, stay far away from it.

About Last Night – Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Regina Hall and Joy Bryant star in this fan-pleasing comedy about the hard work of getting and maintaining a relationship. Hall is every bit the match for Hart in their hilarious subplot while Ealy showcases his leading man skills in wooing Bryant. It’s my easy recommendation of the week.
