5 X-Men villains we need to see in the next movie

X-Men_Villains_GalleryI don’t know about the rest of you all, but I’m soooo tired of my X-Men movies having to feature Magneto and Mystique along with Professor Xaver’s team of mutants. Don’t get me wrong. Magneto? Awesome. Whether the Ian McKellan or Michael Fassbender version. Mystique? Rebecca Romijn or Jennifer Lawrence. Same deal. But the X-Men have a ton of great villains and potential storylines that we need to start working beyond just those old faithful adversaries. Sure we’ve seen Toad, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike (I refuse to acknowledge the “Juggernaut” seen in “X-Men: The Last Stand”) and even The Hellfire Club, but it’s time to start digging a bit deeper. Here’s the top 5 villains that we should definitely start getting around to seeing in future X-Men movies.

  • Out of all the ones you mentioned, I think Sinister has the best chance of happening right now. Considering the next film takes place about a decade after DOFP, we can assume Charles has assembled some version of the team we know, and it could be possible Nathaniel Essex is experimenting on mutants for “the first mutant”. Maybe this encounter creates his fascination with Scott & Jean in the movie verse.

The ones i could even remotely see on flim for my tastes the right as well lets face it xmen will always be about paranoid bigots trying to kill them at the heart of things for me. Now well fox let them do it as well their fox and they are face of that group. Or sinister. he is evil, looks the part, powerful ( forget his exact powers), and may be a villian that allows someone other than wolverine to say the day. Throw in a proper juggernaunt apperance as a hired gun and maybe let him be young charles brother and boom.

ugh my typos sorry doing other things

  • If only I could get rid of that disastrous take on Juggernaut from “Last Stand” out of my head…

  • I am baffled by this need to keep moving a decade each movie. There’s so much character development that seems to be tossed aside [what happens to Xavier and Hank in reforming the X-Men? Who are those X-Men? What happens with Havok?] that I don’t get why they feel the need to keep zooming along.

I’d love for the “original” team to show up in this new version and would clearly love to see Sinister show up! 🙂

  • I agree, I think Sinister has the best chance of making it onscreen, especially since there has been so much focus on experimentation on mutants in the films. With Apocalypse, X-Force, and Gambit all in the works, I think the chance of Sinister showing up is close to 100%!

  • You mention them in passing, but I would actually also say the Morlocks could be interesting. I always thought that would have been a good storyline for them to pursue when Halle Berry was wanting more of a leading role: Storm and her connection with the Morlocks.

  • Plus Sinister has an awesome visual and would look so cool on screen.

  • Good point man. They could do a whole sub-culture film on them and would lead to a nice future movie with the Mutant Massacre.

Don’t know enough about the X-Men series to really comment on the best villains but it would be good to get something fresher than another Magneto plan again. Hopefully Apocalypse will offer us this.

  • I highly recommend the Uncanny X-Men Omnibus with the first 30+ issues of the new team. It’s one of my all-time favorite comic book runs and a great deal for $50.

  • Ben

Might have to give it a go. Started collecting Ultimate X-Men. Find them really accessible, especially with a passing interest.

  • You really should. The first omnibus starts with the new team (Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Banshee and Thunderbird) and features cameos from the older team throughout. Best of all, most of the issues are self-contained so it’s really easy reading with great artwork from Dave Cockrum and John Byrne.
