First look at Henry Cavill’s Superman in “Batman v. Superman”

Well for those of you hoping for a brighter, lighter Superman outfit for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” you’re gonna be a bit disappointed.

Today, we got our first look at Henry Cavill’s Superman and it’s dark and dreary enough to be a scene more commonly associated with his co-headliner Batman. henry cavill as superman in batman v superman

What do you think? Hoping for a change somewhere?

The suit is completely changed. Wow.
I am guessing that the rain and darkness is showing that he is in the domain of the caped crusader.

  • LOL
Now I’ll wait on my Batman in sunny Metropolis pic!

I had that very line typed out and erased it, lol.
My all time greatest Superman/Batman scene was from the animated show.
Superman meets Batman, and looks through the cowl and says: “Bruce Wayne?” then flies off.
Superman flies into his(Clark’s) apartment window and takes off the Superman suit, to find a small tracker device was on his back. He looks out the window to see Batman on an adjacent rooftop, who smiles and waves, then ropes away into the night.
Kind of an “I know who you are, and you know who i am” exchange.
I’d love it if this movie has something similar.

Boo ?. If they are going to use that costume they should use the colors from the comic books. It’s not like he is hiding in the shadows.

  • Great minds… πŸ˜‰

I loved that scene too. I think that was inspired from a scene in the comic after the post-Crisis first meeting between the two. I’d actually be a bit disappointed if we didn’t get something similar.

  • Yeah. The comic version has a very cool metallic blue shine to it and looks inspiring as opposed to the drab, washed out look of this costume. πŸ™

  • Well, the picture is very desaturated, so it’s hard to say exactly what the colors would look like in normal light. If you look at his skin, it’s obvious the colors have been toned down a lot, but there’s no telling if it’s the same amount on his skin, the background, and the suit. I think, as most have suggested, it’s a pretty safe bet this is a pic of Supes in Gotham.

It might not seem like it, but the look has changed some. The “wing” detail on the torso and wrists is much subtler, and the S shield is a little bit smaller. Also, the “belt buckle” is more of a square this go ’round. But by far the largest changes are to Cavill himself. He’s bulked up some since 2011, and his haircut/hairline are a little more “Superman.” I think he looks more the part here than he did in the last movie. Screen Rant did a comparison of both suits (which is why I can be so confident on the changes; my memory’s not that good). Check it out and judge for yourself:

  • Barry, I appreciate the breakdown of the changes my friend. That was pretty helpful. You’re right about Cavill! The guy looks even bigger now!!

  • I just can’t get excited about this movie. I still haven’t brought myself to watch “Man of Steel”. And the more characters they add, the more I worry it will be about cameos vs actual plot.

  • “Man of Steel” has gotten a very mixed rap, but it’s enjoyable albeit a much different take on Superman than you’re used to.

Watch it. Then make a decision.
