"Ghostbusters" revamp nearly ready for the call

Ghostbusters logoDon’t look now, but that long-rumored all-female “Ghostbusters” film may finally be taking shape.

Ghostbusters female castAccording to Variety, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are in early negotiations to star in the “Ghostbusters” reboot. Of the foursome, only McCarthy was not a “Saturday Night Live” alum or current star.

Paul Feig, who previously collaborated with McCarthy and Wiig on “Bridesmaids (Blu-ray + DVD),” will be directing and Katie Dippold (“The Heat (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD)“)

This has potential, but I hated the Dippold’s script for “The Heat,” so the dialogue is my biggest concern. Well, that and potentially ruining the franchise’s good name.

Hopefully the film will still be able to find room for a cameo by the original surviving trio of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.  Ghostbusters cast reunion

I think this is a bad idea. I thought the original was funny. Why try to remake it. I especially thought it worked with the original 4 cast members. I think having an all female cast is also the wrong way to remake something that was an 80’s classic.

  • I like the cast and think they could play off each other well. It really depends on the script with this and if they don’t go out of the way to make it silly.

pass for various reasons. not a big fan of none of these ladies. I think wigg and melissa are just waaaaay too overhype for what you get back in return. bridemaids was… cute. but once or twice watching it im done. maybe i also have to try to imagine these actors so called busting ghosts. at best.. its going to be a dvd watch. Either the trailer or your review will have to be miracle to get me there for this

it will be silly and probably a crappy snl skit at best

The biggest issue I have with this is how unnecessary it feels. There are better vehicles for these actors than Ghostbusters. It feels like they are desperate to make this work and are forcing it through rather than thinking about what’s best. Without the original cast prominently involved, it feels like it would be better to leave well alone.
