Telltale Games making Batman series – goodbye sleep

Well this one immediately shot to the top of my most wanted list for 2016.

I can already see many a sleepness night in my future. Telltale Games, one of my favorite game companies, is tackling Batman in their signature storytelling format.

Batman is such a natural fit for Telltale’s format and I can’t wait to see how they bring Gotham to life.

Details like the exact title and platforms have not yet been announced, but I’d be shocked if it deviated much from Telltale’s digital first, platform second schedule.

On their blog Telltale shared a few more details:

“At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year. This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”

  • I’ve never played a telltale title. What kind of format is it? Will it be along the lines of Arkham?

  • No, they’re very different than Arkham. It’s more of a story controlling setup where your decisions affect what plays out in the story. Your actions have repercussions so say you don’t decide to help an ally. They’ll remember it later and not help you. Typically spread out over five episodes, but the replay value is really high since you’ll want to explore all the possibilities from changing earlier decisions. I’ve played the two Walking Dead games and they’re two of my favorites. Here’s what I wrote on the first one: http://lylesmoviefiles.com/2014/11/05/game-gems-the-walking-dead-season-1-telltale-games-thewalkingdead/

  • Oh that’s awesome, I played the walking dead title, just wasn’t ringing a bell. Hey if you get a chance check out my post about batman v superman predictions, I’d love to hear what you think

  • Oh yeah they’re tremendous. I was waiting on the Game of Thrones set to wrap up as that’s next on my list.
