Saturday Night Live’s writers have been bringing the fire lately when it comes to race relations in the US. First it was the scathingly unapologetic calling out of the Academy Awards with the all-white acting nominations and now they roast folks all in their feelings about Beyonce’s Formation video.
For some reason, the Internet seemed to lose its mind with Beyonce’s Formation video, which was far more politically charged than anything she’s done before. Predictably there were some calling her out for showcasing the #BlackLivesMatter movement with Black Panther “imagery” on a laid back atmosphere like the Super Bowl. I’m not remotely into the song as it’s far from Beyonce’s best work, but the reaction was … interesting and SNL perfectly mocked the outrage.
