One of my all-time favorite games is Red Dead Redemption. Of all of Rockstar Games’ open world games from Grand Theft Auto III to Bully to everything in between, this is the standout. It was one of those game so perfect executed going back for a sequel almost seemed ill-advised. Until now. Red Dead Redemption 2 has been heavily rumored for awhile and Rockstar finally confirmed it today with an epic sized announcement.

We’ll get out first look at the game this Thursday, Oct. 20.
Rockstar provided a vague summary:
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.
What I found most interesting though was the number of characters walking in the distance. I’d love to see how Rockstar can pull off a Magnificent Seven style adventure here. The first half of the game could be devoted to the main character assembling his team and the second half could be the misfits saving a team from outlaws.
Purely speculation on my part, but that could be one way that game could possibly manage to top the original game. And if Rockstar manages to find some way to work in another Undead Nightmare edition I’d be even more thrilled.
