10 WWE wrestlers Mattel could reveal figures at SDCC 2017

I’m always excited for San Diego Comic Con. I dig hearing all the movie news and getting the first look at trailers, but I’m most amped up about seeing new figure reveals. And with less than a week away from Preview Night, I figured now was a great time to do another wish list. This time I wanted to look at 10 WWE stars Mattel could realistically debut at SDCC 2017.

Mattel has had a Fort Knox style lockdown on leaks so we don’t know much of anything to expect. I’m curious if this will lead to more disappointments if the anticipation doesn’t pay off? If nothing else, collectors had time to come to grips with their disappointment with lackluster reveals. We know the lineup for Elite 52: Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, D-Lo Brown and Ken Shamrock. Elite 53 is widely rumored to consist of Chris Jericho, TJ Perkins, Alexa Bliss, Heath Slater, Kevin Owens and Big E. I don’t really care at all about Elite 53 on paper at least.

Previously, I just did Flashbacks/Legends, but this time I’m absolutely going to throw in some modern guys as well. This isn’t a ridiculous out of nowhere wish list so I won’t have Jeff Jarrett or Owen Hart on it. I’m actually feeling pretty confident about seeing at least a few of these 10 WWE and NXT stars next week.

10. DIY
(Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa)

I’m really, really hoping these guys were in the pipeline before the ill-advised split. DIY provided some of NXT’s best matches after the mass talent purge thanks to the brand split. Maybe Mattel would be reluctant to release a disbanded tag team, but I’m beting a ton of folks would happily grab these guys. If the Target exclusive NXT line gets a second series, DIY seems like a smart fit since that line is more of a snapshot in time than based on the current happenings in the promotion.

9. Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine

The Hammer may not be a flashy pick, but he was one of the bigger players in the mid-80s. His feuds with Roddy Piper and Tito Santana were legendary. Mattel has done a great job getting most of the main players from the Hulkamania era and Valentine is one of the few holdouts. Slap a cloth robe on him and we get another important fixture of the Rock n Wrestling movement.
