Harley and Ivy Meet
Betty and Veronica #2

Harley and Ivy Meet Betty and Veronica #2 variant cover

In the previous issue, we were left off with Betty and Veronica dressed as Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy…as Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are at the same party. In Issue #2, we see that this doesn’t go well. Betty and Veronica are pissed but Harley and Ivy are using this as a possible way to kidnap them. However, they are not the only Archie and DC universe characters at this party.

Although this issue was meant to highlight Betty and Veronica vs Harley and Ivy, the best parts of this issue happen between Sabrina Spellman and Zatanna. Sabrina is a teenage witch in the Archie universe, (with a horror TV show reboot inspired by the comic series coming up in 2018), and most of the time she’s the only witch in her Archie appearances.

This changes when she meets Zatanna, the magical talent of the evening. She speaks to her privately, displaying her own magical abilities and a friendship begins. In a perfect world, this interaction would be a hint at a project with these two women as the lead.

Honestly, it would be kind of perfect since the new version of Sabrina, (showcased in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic series), has a much darker, gothic tone than that of the Sabrina Spellman of the 60’s, 70’s, and 90’s. Hopefully something can happen with her and Zatanna or at least more interactions in this series.

Issue #2 packs action, humor, and more character cameos which keeps Harvey and Ivy Meet Betty and Veronica a series to keep an eye out for. — Pierre Brown
