Wrestling biopics are in vogue this month. In addition to Ric Flair’s 30 for 30, fans can get greater insight on another legend with The Price of Fame: The Story of Ted ‘Million Dollar Man’ DiBiase.
Life Bible Study is collaborating with Fathom Events, Collide Media Group and Engage Media Partners on the film. The Price of Fame has a special one-night showing in more than 600 U.S. theaters at 7 p.m. Nov. 7.
According to the synopsis: The Price of Fame explores the wrestling career of DiBiase —‘The Million Dollar Man’ — and chronicles his rise to fame, his fall, and his ultimate redemption. Audiences will witness DiBiase’s story and learn about his inspiring search for meaning, which changed him from a self-absorbed, jet-setting wrestler into a devoted Christian, family man and ordained minister.
DiBiase is legit one of the all-time greatest wrestlers and he had a larger than life personality. I’m looking forward to seeing how his life played out and what led him on his faith journey.
For those interested, Life Bible Study has also set up a companion Bible study component — Everybody’s Price: Reclaiming Your Integrity. The study further explores the film’s themes of temptation & sin, truth & confession, pride & brokenness, salvation & identity and building a legacy of faith.
‘The Price of Fame shows that fame, money, power, and prestige are not what’s really important in life. Devotion to family and friends, giving of yourself to others, and building strong character and integrity—these are life’s priceless commodities and are far more rewarding than anything money can buy,’ DiBiase said in a statement. ‘Although I appreciate my time in wrestling, I don’t want to be remembered as a wrestling legend, but someone who, through much grace and mercy, overcame many mistakes. I want to be known as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend who left a legacy of selfless love and devotion.’
