I feel like I’ve been beating the drum on this one for a while, but now I’m finally convinced Green Lantern will be showing up in Justice League.
It’s not like that’s completely inconceivable. In the trailer, big bad Steppenwolf mentioned that Earth had no Kryptonians or Lanterns. That’s enough evidence that Green Lanterns already exist in the Justice League universe. And with a big galactic threat like Steppenwolf showing up, why wouldn’t a Green Lantern show up?
Here’s another thought. What if it wasn’t Superman that Alfred was talking to, but a Green Lantern? After all, it’s not like Alfred had any interaction let alone a full conversation with Superman that he’d promise to return. But a Green Lantern returning with Earth’s fate hanging in the balance? That kinda makes more sense, right?
Way back with one of the first poster for Dawn of Justice, then-director tweeted a picture of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman with the tagline Unite the Seven. Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Superman clearly make six.
In a recent DC Entertainment announcement for Justice League Day, the release mentioned a partnership with Books-A-Million. See if you notice which character doesn’t belong.
Justice League titles at Books-A-Million locations will be on sale Nov. 14-27 with a buy one, get one 50% off special offer. Digital readers can rediscover their favorite Justice League stories with DC’s “Join the League” sale, from Nov. 7-20. The two-week sale features over 160 e-books and periodical issues, including The New 52 and Rebirth collections for AQUAMAN, BATMAN, WONDER WOMAN, SUPERMAN, GREEN LANTERN, CYBORG and THE FLASH. DC will also offer over 100 discounted Justice League led e-books and periodicals with the ‘Justice League: All In’ sale, from Nov. 14-20. DC’s digital sales are available viareaddcentertainment.com, Amazon Kindle, comiXology, Google Play, iBooks, Nook, and Madefire.
Here’s the thing. The Justice League has been such a catch all group for DC characters, that sale could include former JL members Green Arrow, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Blue Beetle or even Nightwing. Green Lantern was singled out here and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a slip-up.
And in another possible retailer early tease, Entertainment Earth has an exclusive set of Glow in the Dark Justice League Silhouette figures.
Naturally, there’s Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Cyborg. And Superman …and Green Lantern. Clearly, the Aquaman figure is not based on the movie version, but Cyborg is a pretty random character to throw in with a classic Justice League lineup as opposed to old school classic founder Martian Manhunter.
So what do you think? Am I way off here or does that deal it? Is Green Lantern gonna show up in Justice League?
