DC Comics reviews for 11/8/17

Ragman #2

Issue #1 left readers off a cliffhanger as Rory sees his home in flames and his father seemingly dead in the hands of supernatural creatures. Issue #2 of Ragman starts with Rory back in a therapist’s office as further memories of the event that lead to his transformation are revealed.

A lot more questions are answered in this issue such as what exactly is this mummified looking creature and why are demons after Rory. Additionally, though, we get more questions to ask such as the origins of this species and more but that doesn’t make the ride any less thrilling.

His powers to defeat his foes are fascinating and there’s plenty of suspense, action, and blood to go around. A consistent theme explored is PTSD from military experiences in this series, making it all the more engaging in a psychological sense. The art is still consistently superb and the writing is engaging as a new superhero is coming into form in Gotham City. — Pierre Brown
