The Flash #41
The Flash has really been on a great run lately and Perfect Storm has definitely kept up the pace. At least up to this point it’s shaping up to be one of the best arcs of The Flash Rebirth era.
Part of it is just seeing Wally West back in the mix in a featured role. Writer Joshua Williamson has a thorough sense of Wally’s voice and it reads just like the Geoff Johns heyday of The Flash.
With Barry Allen’s powers gone it’s up to Wally, Kid Flash and Avery to save Central City from Gorilla Grodd’s latest scheme. And Barry is starting to get so desperate to get his powers back he’s willing to risk everything.
Carlos D’Anda steps in as this issue’s artist. The immediate question is where DC has been hiding him since Rebirth kicked off? There’s no letdown of visual punch that typically comes with the absence of regular artist Carmine Di Giandomenico. D’Anda delivers very expressive and lively characters. Colorist Luis Guerrero also really impressed with bright, stunning colors. I’d definitely be on board with them contributing to Flash on a regular basis.
Williamson continues showing why he’s one of DC’s brightest stars and the cliffhanger this issue is a real surprise. I can’t wait to see where he’s going to go next with this story.
