We’re running out of episodes this season and the momentum has halted dramatically. AKA Shark in the Bathtub, Monster in the Bed had an awesome — albeit very long — title, but that was the extent of anything worth being excited about.
This has been such a weird roll out of a season even in a binge format. There’s only four episodes left and it seems like the main story is Jessica’s mom working through her temper. Seriously if it wasn’t for Krysten Ritter and Janet McTee, this year would be in the Iron Fist conversation for least interesting Marvel Netflix season. That dialogue exchange about the bottle of booze was really funny. Ritter and McTee have the mother/daughter dynamic down perfectly.
I can’t believe the shooter who shot up Jessica’s apartment/office really was Pryce. He was looking for payback for his buddy Alisa dismembered in his truck. But Pryce is a lousy shot and spends most of the episode knocked out courtesy of a tranquilizer. And to tie in to the title, Pryce gets to sleep it off in the bathtub while Alisa sleeps in the bed.
Alisa really hated her husband, didn’t she? I’m really going to need someone to break down what is and what isn’t acceptable for feminists if a wife letting her husband drive is another means of marginalization.
It’s taken her a while, but Jessica finally realizes Trish is strung out. Jessica can’t do anything about it yet as she’s got her own issues namely keep Pryce tranq’d up, Alisa’s temper in check and helping Oscar with baby mama drama.
No bother. Trish can stew for a little while longer. Trish is so amped up on her magic inhaler that she berates one of her Trish Talk guests and quits. Even if Trish were to become a vigilante in this series, she didn’t have to quit her job to do so. And now she has to deal with something she apparently never bothered considering as her inhaler is out of magic intensity.
Hogarth is ready for a little magic of her own. Once she gets Shane to heal her ALS with his powers, she’s taking Inez on a trip. Not surprisingly, Hogarth has no clue what Chick-Fil-A is.
One of the big subplots this episode was Oscar’s ex-wife running off with their son. It takes the super-powered mother and daughter duo to stop the bus to Montreal. While a sweet moment, was anyone really that invested in Oscar’s drama? And is Malcolm still running from last episode?
AKA Shark in the Bathtub, Monster in the Bed winds down with Pryce trying to convince Jessica that Alisa is a danger to everyone. Jessica calls Det. Costa with the hot tip that the murderer is at her place, which sends Alisa on a new rager. Jessica takes a couple of punches to help Pryce escape and when Alisa makes it outside, she’s greeted by Costa’s officers.
