Steve from Third Eye Comics has the latest new releases, including another old school favorite of mine that’s now becoming a comic book.

CRISIS ON INFINITE MARVEL EARTHS Continues!

With the MARVEL UNIVERSE turned inside out, who will take responsibility for breaking the world? And is there any way to put it back? Wait until you see who is in charge of the new world order and how they got there…. you’re gonna lose your mind!

A reality-spanning choice is made in this issue that will affect the Marvel Universe for years and years to come.

AGE OF ULTRON is must-read stuff as it sets the stage for the blockbuster INFINITY event beginning this Summer — trust us, you’re going to want to be reading AGE OF ULTRON once you see what’s in store when it concludes.

This book could be one of the most important pieces of the puzzle in Marvel’s most recent history. More

After an exhausting, yet awesome Free Comic Book Day/5th Anniversary celebration at Third Eye Comics on Saturday, my man Steve Anderson has somehow found the energy to go through this week’s most anticipated new releases:

THE ROAD TO BATMAN: ZERO YEAR begins

Snyder & Capullo have pretty much proven over the last two years that they are THE Batman creative team of the 21st century — as they’ve delivered some of the best BATMAN stories since the days of FRANK MILLER.

A play off on the now-classic BATMAN: YEAR ONE, YEAR ZERO will use the NEW 52 to tell a storyline that takes place 5-6 years in the past.

While details are sketchy on what this one will entail, it’s a very formative look at the development of not just Bruce into Batman, but also the world that surrounds him, and some of his most notorious foes.

Now, in this week’s BATMAN #20, we see a special lead-in chapter set in the present day, featuring a strange visitor coming to Gotham when tragedy delivers one of the most exciting team-ups the NEW 52 has seen yet. This issue is a perfect jumping on point for one of the best comics on the stands right now. Seriously, BATMAN continues to be an impressive read, and we cannot get enough. More

Free Comic Book Day recap at Third Eye Comics

Picture 023I’d planned to make it out to Third Eye Comics early Saturday for Free Comic Book Day.

After all, Third Eye’s owner Steve Anderson said members of the 501st Legion (Star Wars’ Storm trooper cosplayers) would be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon so there was only a limited amount of time to meet up with some of Darth Vader’s elite. Gail Simone (Batgirl, Birds of Prey) was also going to be on hand so I figured getting there at 10:30 would be perfect. More

I’m thinking it’s about time to start getting excited about Free Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day is Saturday – May 4 – and this will be next great comic geek-out event until the Baltimore Comic Con, which isn’t until Sept. 6.

FCBD is my kind of event and not just because of the price, but it’s a great event that unites people with all kinds of interest together to revel in their love of all things pop culture and hopefully get some new fans sucked into the weekly addiction that is the trip to the comic book store.

Here’s the full list of free comics available.

STK525527 ImageAnd it’s literally a case of a little something for everyone from Superman, Star Wars, Archie, Sesame Street, The Simpsons, Buck Rodgers, Tinker Bell, Mass Effect, Prince Valiant and more.

I’ll be heading to Third Eye Comics event, which will feature acclaimed writer Gail Simone (Batgirl, Birds of Prey) and comic talent including Cullen Bunn, Joelle Jones, Duane Swierczynski, Billy Martin and more.

And if you want to check out the fun, but don’t know where to go, here’s where you can find the closest comic book shop near you.

In issue #9, things get off to a bang, as Death’s Head and Iron Man team up to hunt d own a genocidal criminal. But, that’s not the problem.

A shipful of dead badoon? That’s not the problem either. What Tony finds in the depths of that ship: the problem. BIG PROBLEM. This is going to be one of the biggest MARVEL stories of the year.

Do not sleep on IRON MAN #9 — it is THE book to get, and is going to be one of this year’s most sought after issues. More

My pal Steve from Third Eye Comics shares his top picks for the week as always.

UNCANNY X-MEN #5 — Cyclops’ Boot Camp!!

We are totally loving the direction that Marvel has been taking with their X-Books, and with ALL NEW X-MEN writer BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS also handling writing chores on UNCANNY X-MEN, the books have a shared vision and cohesion that makes them work extremely well together.

In this week’s issue #5, Frazer Irving, who is one of our favorite artists working in comics today, joins the book as the interior artist for this arc, and helps show us just what it’s like to be a student under the harsh command of Scott Summers.

Highly recommended, UNCANNY X-MEN is a gritty, fast-moving, and action-packed look at Cyclops as he does whatever it takes to protect the future of mutantkind. More

BATMAN AND RED ROBIN #19 — Carrie Kelley joins the DC NEW 52!

Dark Knight Returns has stood the test of time as one of THE coolest BATMAN graphic novels of all time… without a doubt. And, we’re totally pumped to see how DC plans to incorporate one of the most endearing Robins ever into the NEW 52 with the arrival of CARRIE KELLEY as the new Robin. More

Guardians of the Galaxy issue 1 free Marvel comicThe first time Marvel Comics tried to make 700 #1 digital issues available, it was so popular that it crashed the site and few if anyone was able to take advantage of it.

Third Eye Comics’ Steve Anderson gives us the latest on tomorrow’s new releases:

THANOS RISING #1Wanna know more about the villain who debuted at the end of AVENGERS?

THANOS, is by far, one of the coolest bad guys to exist in the realm of the MARVEL UNIVERSE. I mean, the dude IS an icon, without a shadow of a doubt.

Tying into the brand new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and NOVA series, THANOS RISING reveals just who eerily disturbing villain is.

Thanos rises as the unrivaled rogue of wretchedness in this gripping tale of tragedy, deceit and destiny. Where did this demigod of DEATH and DESTRUCTION come from and… more importantly, what does he want?

The answers come from the incredible creative team of JASON AARON and SIMONE BIANCHI as they take you on a journey that will not only change the course of one boy’s life… but will soon change the very nature of the MARVEL UNIVERSE.

Folks, do not sleep on this one, as it’s got an incredible creative team, and a killer concept that makes it a must-read.

Third Eye Comics‘ Steve Anderson delivers his take on what you must add to your collection this week.

FIVE GHOSTS: HAUNTING OF FABIAN GRAY #1  THE MUST-READ IMAGE SERIES OF THE SUMMER!

YOU NEED THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE. This is why we love IMAGE. These one of a kind gems that come out of nowhere that you can tell the publisher has poured some real love into.

FIVE GHOSTS is the kind of book that’s going to be on top 10 lists all year long. It’s the kind of book that practically explodes with raw comic book energy in your hands — the kind of energy you only get from that unique blend of great storytelling and gorgeous artwork. The kind of energy only comics can make.

After a tragic encounter with an artifact known as “the Dreamstone,” infamous treasure hunter Fabian Gray was possessed by five literary ghosts and now has access to their abilities. The archer. The detective. The wizard. The samurai. The vampire.

I mean, this is awesome. I feel like we should get a CASTLEVANIA Symphony of the Night-style side-scroller video game out of this comic.  More
