“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ stunner – Shailene Woodley out as Mary Jane Watson

Shailene WoodleyOh what a tangled web…

I wasn’t blown away with the first look of Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ and maybe I wasn’t the only one.

Fresh off the news that the franchise will continue through 2018, it’s been announced that Mary Jane won’t be showing up in the sequel after all.

Woodley reportedly only worked on the set for three days so there won’t be a lot to cut from the film, but this is a pretty surprising move.

”I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship,” said Director Marc Webb to The Hollywood Reporter. More

“The Amazing Spider-Man” spins sequels through 2018

0-0-New The Amazing Spider-Man movie costumeHope you enjoyed Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man because you’re going to be seeing a lot more of him.

The first sequel to “The Amazing Spider-Man” won’t hit theaters until May 2, 2014, but that’s not stopping Sony from moving forward with the relaunched franchise as it announced the release dates for two more sequels.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 3″ (unofficial title) is coming June 10, 2016 and the fourth installment is slated for May 4, 2018. This is a significant and bold move by Sony as its execs must feel pretty confident in the franchise with Garfield as the titular character to extend it so long. More

Top 5 Superman comic book stories we should see for “Man of Steel” sequels

Man of Steel Henry Cavill as SupermanSo we’re in agreement that Man of Steel rocked and was just about perfect, yes?

Great. I’m already plotting to see it again with my Dad on Father’s Day — yes, he’s that cool — but like most of us, I’m not satisfied and my mind is churning ideas for sequels.

Will they call it “Man of Steel 2?” or start going the X-Men route and be more descriptive like “X-Men: Days of Future Past?”

That’s for the marketing folks to decide, but for now here’s my Top 5 ideas for the Superman stories that absolutely should be considered for “Man of Steel” sequels.Superman Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow

My criteria was the stories had to be solely Superman-focused entries so there’s no “Kingdom Come,” “Infinite Crisis” or “The Dark Knight Returns.” We definitely don’t need another origin story so that eliminates “Superman: Birthright” and John Byrne’s “Man of Steel” and they had to be significant enough stories to be able to sustain a movie. That meant classic stories like “For the Man Who Has Everything” and “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?” weren’t in the running either.

So with that said, here’s the list!

George Lucas says the force is with J.J. Abrams for “Star Wars: Episode VII”

George Lucas Star WarsJ.J. Abrams has been getting a lot of love as being the ideal successor to take over the Star Wars franchise starting with “Episode VII” and he’s got another big fan in Star Wars creator George Lucas himself.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Lucas shared his thoughts on the future of the franchise under Abrams’ direction.

“Yeah, [I'm excited]. J.J.’s a great director and we’re friends,” Lucas said. “I think he understands the whole thing and how it works.”

For those prequel haters who may be concerned that Lucas will be overly involved, he says he will have very limited involvement if at all.

“If they need help or anything, they’ll give me a call,” he said. “Otherwise, I’m off on my own.”

Schwarzenegger’s back for “Terminator 5″

Arnold Schwarzenegger as The TerminatorParamount Pictures is working on distributing the next Terminator film and the studio decided to make sure audiences will be back by working to have Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the franchise that made him a mega-star.

On The Arnold Fans, Schwarzenegger shared this comment: “I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator, which we start shooting in January.”

I was glad to see him sort of cameo in “Terminator Salvation” (the special effects team just scanned his face and used CGI to apply it to a stunt double) so I’m looking forward to seeing him back for real this time.

What do you think? Excited about Arnold coming back or ready for him to retire from the franchise for good?

Did “Man of Steel” make me want to watch “Superman II” again?

Aaron Taylor-Johnson zooms to the lead for top Quicksilver choice in “Avengers 2″

Aaron Taylor-Johnson could be Quicksilver in Avengers 2Today’s big web rumor is that “Kick-Ass” star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is in the running (so sorry) to play the role of Quicksilver in Joss Whedon’s “Avengers 2.”

Taylor-Johnson would make for a fine Quicksilver, but my only requirement is he dyes his hair white to capture Quicksilver’s comic-based look.

Since 20th Century Fox owns very specific rights to the character, “Avengers 2″ Quicksilver can’t be identified as a mutant or as Magneto’s son.

And for some silly reason, Bryan Singer decided to add Quicksilver to “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which already features about 1,045 X-Men at this point. Evan Peters will be playing the role in the X-Men film. Any guesses as to which film will feature the better Quicksilver?

Here’s a hint: it’s not the one that solely has him in the mix for the shock scene of Magneto learning he has a son.

I wasn’t all that impressed with Peter Jackson’s first return to Middle Earth in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” but I’m still anticipating his second installment, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.”

Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel

That’s largely because we’re going to see the return of some kick-tail Elven warriors, including everyone’s favorite Legolas (Orlando Bloom). He’s going to be joined this time by Evangeline Lilly’s (“Lost“) Tauriel, a new character written in to the Hobbit universe by Jackson and his co-writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. More
