Hot Toys, Man of Steel, Superman

Now this is a well timed announcement from Hot Toys about its latest superhero movie figure – the 12″ Superman from “Man of Steel.”
I really enjoyed the film and depending on how many other MOS figures are announced, I could definitely see starting this collection. More

Azog, The Bridge Direct, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
I’m still not all that into “The Hobbit,” but I did really enjoy the main villain and the gang at The Bridge Direct is making him this year’s San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. Better start making friends going so I can snag one!

From TBD:
7” tall Orc Commander Azog comes in a numbered, limited edition of 2,600 pieces. Azog is depicted as he appears in the prologue scene from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In the battle between the dwarves and an army of orcs to reclaim Moria, Azog holds the severed head of the dwarf King Thror up in victory. The figure comes with interchangeable hands – the right hand that holds Thror’s head can be replaced with a hand capable of holding either his dagger or mace, and the left hand can be switched with the prosthetic spikes that replaced the hand he lost to Thorin’s sword.

Evangeline Lilly, Legolas, Orlando Bloom, Peter Jackson, Tauriel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
I wasn’t all that impressed with Peter Jackson’s first return to Middle Earth in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” but I’m still anticipating his second installment, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.”

Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel
That’s largely because we’re going to see the return of some kick-tail Elven warriors, including everyone’s favorite Legolas (Orlando Bloom). He’s going to be joined this time by Evangeline Lilly’s (“Lost“) Tauriel, a new character written in to the Hobbit universe by Jackson and his co-writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. More

Cobra, Cobra Commander, G.I. Joe, Sideshow Collectibles
Sideshow Collectibles’ G.I. Joe line of 12″ figures has been real hit or miss with me. They tend to do better with the Cobras, but their more realistic approach to the Joes are too far a departure from the source material for me to start plunking down and really getting into the line.
That could change with this preview of their newest Joe figure – the helmeted version of Cobra Commander, which Sideshow dubbed “Dictator” version and this looks like a high-level, larger scale version of the 3 3/4″ figure I had as a kid. Sounds like we’ll get a better look at him come June 6 when pre-orders go up. What do you think?

Aliens, Colonial Marines, Hicks, Hudson, NECA
I’m a few weeks away from being a very happy action figure collector with NECA’s release of the first series of “Aliens” figures featuring two of my favorites – Hicks and Hudson.
NECA’s sent along some shots of the figures in packaging as well as some action photos just for fun. More

Boba Fett, Han Solo, san diego comic con, Star Wars Black, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

If I haven’t made it obnoxiously clear enough, when it comes to my favorite movies, there’s “Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” as 1A and “The Godfather” as 1B. Since there’s not nearly as many action figures from “The Godfather,” I get to go on and on about “ESB.”
USA Today got the exclusive debut of the Boba Fett with Han Solo in Carbonite from “ESB” — in the most epic cliffhanger in my film-watching life — in Hasbro’s 6″ Star Wars Black line.
Clearly now is the time I need to start doing some really nice things for any of my friends who may be going to Comic-Con so I can hold it over their heads and beg them to grab this for me.
