“The Impossible“- I loved Jennifer Lawrence in “Silver Linings Playbook” and thought she was great as usual, but Naomi Watts’ was at another level here in this film based on a true story of a family of five trying to reunite after the horrific 2004 tsunami. Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland provide fantastic supporting roles in last year’s most unflinching film. More

Review: Jack the Giant Slayer

Action/Adventure, Fantasy, Movie Reviews Bryan Singer, Christopher McQuarrie, Eleanor Tomlinson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McShane, Jack the Giant Slayer, Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci 5 Comments

Warner Bros. Pictures
BILL NIGHY (center) stars as General Fallon and JOHN KASSIR as General Fallon’s Small Head in New Line Cinema’s and Legendary Pictures’ action adventure “JACK THE GIANT SLAYER,” a Warner Bros. Pictures release.
Director Bryan Singer (“X2”) still seems to be chasing the greatness that’s eluded him since 1995’s “The Usual Suspects,” his second film and modern cinematic classic. His latest, “Jack the Giant Slayer,” is another well-intentioned, yet boring adventure that never climbs the heights to reach its full potential. More

This is the year’s second fairy tale turned into action/adventure film. I’m not sure if I’m all that excited about “Jack the Giant Slayer,” but it wouldn’t take much to be more entertaining than “Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters” and this film features star on the rise Nicholas Hoult (“Warm Bodies“) and the ever dependable Ewan McGregor (“The Impossible“) and Stanley Tucci (“The Hunger Games“). Yes, I would definitely be up for it. I'd rather I'd play Obi-Wan Kenobi if they needed me rather than someone else.—

Who do I need to stalk/harass unendingly/beg/plead/bribe to make this happen?
Since we’re getting spin-off “Star Wars” films, a post-”Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” Obi-Wan standalone starring McGregor is officially at the top of my list and maybe I’m not the only one…
So what exactly could ABC do with a “Star Wars” TV series?

Thanks to the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm all kinds of new opportunities are being explored including a possible “Star Wars” TV show on ABC.
“We’d love to do something with Lucasfilm, we’re not sure what yet,” ABC entertainment president Paul Lee told EW. “We haven’t even sat down with them. We’re going to look at [the live-action series], we’re going to look at all of them, and see what’s right. We weren’t able to discuss this with them until [the acquisition] closed and it just closed. It’s definitely going to be part of the conversation.” More
Review: The Impossible

[From left] Thomas (Samuel Joslin), Simon (Oaklee Pendergast), Lucas (Tom Holland), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and Maria (Naomi Watts) have a family moment in “The Impossible.”
“The Impossible” is a crushing, graphic and oftentimes hard to watch film that places its viewers in the middle of an incomprehensible natural disaster. Under the direction of Juan Antonio Bayona, this is a gut-wrenching film and one you don’t just watch, you experience. More

Eventually I’ll have to post my super biased reviews of the “Star Wars” saga, but for now I’ll just be content posting interesting “Star Wars” items. My least favorite of the six and pretty much most people is “Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” Mind you, I don’t loathe it like some and feel like George Lucas murdered/vaporized/incinerated my childhood with the prequels More

You may not know this, but my favorite movie franchise is “Star Wars.” I’ve slacked off on my SW figure purchases lately, but every so often something pretty amazing comes along like this Ben Kenobi statue from Sideshow Collectibles. More

Gina Carano stars in Relativity Media’s “HAYWIRE.”
The trailers will try and convince you that “Haywire” is the thematic and spiritual successor to “Kill Bill,” with a do-not-mess with, strong female lead getting payback on those who betrayed her.
