Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Right now we’re in Jennifer Lawrence’s world and it’s a pretty fun place to visit. Of the slew of “It Actresses” that have come and gone, I’m thoroughly enjoying Lawrence’s moment in the spotlight. That’s largely because she seems like a regular person and could care less about her celebrity status.
She’s also a great actress, which fans of her performance in “The Hunger Games” could already attest to long before she received the Best Actress Oscar for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook.” So it’s encouraging that despite all the Oscar hype she hasn’t become too good to return to the franchise that cemented her A-lister status and is set to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in the follow-up to one of the all-time highest grossing films – “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” We get another glance at how life has changed for our protagonist in this poster helpfully entitled “Victory Tour.” More

NECA was among the dozens of companies showcasing more of their 2013 product at the 2013 Toy Fair held in New York and they’ve got some very fun offerings in store for pop-culture fans.
That scene straight from “Aliens” is BEGGING for Vasquez, Ripley, Gorman and Newt figures to complete it. More

My promise to you. This isn’t going to be a list filled with movies you’ve never heard of until reading the lists of likely Oscar contenders. There’s plenty of those Top 10 lists out there. My list is made up of the films that made suffering through crap like “Cloud Atlas” and “Red Dawn” worth the privilege of reviewing movies every week.
*Honorable Mentions: “Rise of the Guardians,” “Think Like a Man,” “The Grey” and “The Amazing Spider-Man.” If I had a Top 15 these would have been on there easily.

Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) and Pat (Bradley Cooper) prepare for rehearsal in “Silver Linings Playbook.”
It doesn’t take long while watching “Silver Linings Playbook” to realize you’re watching a special film. Not a flawless film, but one that’s a refreshingly unique tale of making sense of life’s curveballs and recognizing it’s never too late to change your life for the better.

Harry Potter, Jennifer Lawrence, literature, novel series, The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Just like the Harry Potter franchise, I’m getting in on another popular novel series by way of the movies. The first installment was excellent so I’m looking forward to the sequel, Catching Fire, which is slated to come to theaters on Nov. 22 in a prime holiday blockbuster slot. Here’s the poster tease, but of course it means little to me since I’m not reading the books. For all of you who have, should I like this even more than “The Hunger Games?”

Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman star in Relativity Media’s “Paranoia”.
I actually don’t try to find out too much info on films before I see them and watch trailers only when they pop up on TV since I like knowing as little as possible about the movie before I go see it.
So that means I knew very little about “Paranoia” before these images were released, but those pictures have me pretty well intrigued as it stars Harrison Ford (“Star Wars”), Gary Oldman (“The Dark Knight Rises“) and Liam Hemsworth (“The Hunger Games”). More

A cat’s take on Billy (Sam Rockwell) – note the stuffed animal stand-in.
I’m pretty sure “Seven Psychopaths” is going to be a guilty pleasure for me this fall starring Colin Farrell (“Total Recall“), Sam Rockwell (“Iron Man 2″), Woody Harrelson (“The Hunger Games“) about a writer whose friends steal a gangster’s dog.

Does this cat have better hair than Christopher Walken? Too close to call.
Just to raise the craziness scale a bit more of the film, a new trailer, “Seven PsychoCATS” has just been released featuring cats directed by Adult Swim alumni Jim Tozzi. Yes, it’s completely brilliant, but how could you go wrong with a cat channeling Christopher Walken?
“Seven Psychopaths” opens this Friday.

Jennifer Lawrence stars in Relativity Media’s edge-of-your seat thriller “House at the End of the Street.”
Relatively Media sent along a few new images from “House at the End of the Street,” its latest thriller starring Jennifer Lawrence (“The Hunger Games”) about a mother and daughter who move in to a neighborhood where a daughter killed her parents.
I’m amused that the film’s initials are HATES, which I will no doubt find some way to use in the review if the movie is not worth the $45 ticket or whatever theaters are charging these days. More
