Harrison Ford to return to "Star Wars"? And more Episode 7 news

Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) greets Han Solo (Harrison Ford) in “Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.”
Beyond the joy of election season finally being over and done with today, the other exciting bit of news I found today courtesy of EW.com is that Harrison Ford a.k.a. Han “I shot first” Solo is open to returning to the series that made him a worldwide box office star.
According to the EW post: Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are,” said one highly placed source, referring to Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.
Hamill and Fisher aren’t surprising as they’ve always been very gracious in discussing Star Wars’ impact on their careers, but Ford, partly because he was able to immediately shift into other high profile roles such as Indiana Jones and the lead in “Blade Runner,” has understandably been unwilling to define his career as the guy who played Han Solo.
I have no need to watch the greyer adventures of Luke, Leia and Han, but I think it’d be fun to watch them usher in the next generation of Star Wars characters.
Now the real question now is will the new movies use material from the wealth of post- “Return of the Jedi” Star Wars novels, use Star Wars’ creator George Lucas’ early treatments of Episodes 7, 8 and 9 or go in a completely different direction? What would you all want to see?
And since it’s all up for debate now, who would you like to see directing the next Star Wars film?
