First look at Tom Cruise in "Jack Reacher"
My Mom reads a fair bit of fiction, so it’s always fun when we see a trailer based on something she’s read and realizes it’s being made into a film kinda like how I am whenever I hear of anything Star Wars or comic-book related.
So as we prepared for “Alex Cross,” another book series she’s followed, we saw a trailer for “Jack Reacher,” starring Tom Cruise (“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol“) and she was excited as I’d be for a teaser trailer of “Avengers 2” or “Episode 7.”

Tom Cruise is Jack Reacher in JACK REACHER, from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions.
Here’s Paramount’s write-up:
From The New York Times bestselling author Lee Child comes one of the most compelling heroes to step from novel to screen – ex-military investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise).
When a gunman takes five lives with six shots, all evidence points to the suspect in custody. On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!” So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.
I’m not sure what to make of this one. It seems like the same hero character Cruise has been playing since the first “Mission: Impossible:” in 1996 with a slight hint of his rough-edged character from “Collateral,” but maybe Cruise has a new take on the familiar action hero that isn’t coming across in the trailer?
“Jack Reacher” drives in to theaters on Dec. 21.
