I’ve made no secret my thought that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of my favorite under 40 actors and luckily for us, he’s just now entering the prime of his acting career after a stellar 2012 where he appeared in critically-acclaimed films “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Lincoln” and “Looper.”
He makes his directorial/screenwriting debut with “Don Jon’s Addiction,” a story about a contemporary, porn-addicted Don Juan-type attempting to become less selfish. And while it sounds like it could easily be some soul-searching dramatic piece, it’s actually a comedy. If nothing else, it’s got an original premise so I’m looking forward to seeing it.
But with the roll Gordon-Levitt’s been on lately, I’d be willing to give it a shot with him in just about anything.
Here’s Gordon-Levitt and co-star Tony Danza discussing the film.
The film also co-stars Scarlett Johannson and Julianne Moore so if you’re not excited about it yet, now’s the time. I’ve a feeling come December this could be on my Best of 2013 list.
