Once he’d wrapped “Skyfall,” the critically-acclaimed and highest grossing of the 23 James Bond films, Sam Mendes said he was happy to have made his mark on restoring the franchise, but now he was ready to move on.
Now it’s been announced that Mendes will return for at least one more spin with cinema’s greatest secret agent as Bond distributors Sony and MGM wisely allowed Mendes time to handle his previous committments before returning to the franchise.
“I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again,” Mendes said in a statement.
Mendes will again be working with Daniel Craig (appearing in his fourth Bond film) and “Skyfall” screenwriter John Logan so this should make Bond fans happy worldwide.
The still to be titled Bond 24 is set to be released on October 23, 2015 so you’ve got some time to wait, but with “Star Wars: Episode VII” and “Avengers 2” already slated for 2015, that’s shaping up to be one of the more highly anticipated movie years in a long time.
