Celebrity Encounter: Sanaa Lathan
Whenever I get the chance to interview someone whose work I admire, there’s two main thoughts running through my head — try to come up with a good question so I don’t come across like a blabbering idiot and please let them not be a jerk.
Thankfully that was not the case with this celebrity encounter.
Fresh off of headlining 2004’s AVP: Alien vs. Predator, the highest grossing of either Alien or Predator film at that time, Sanaa Lathan was venturing into new territory — starring in her own romantic comedy with 2006’s Something New.
She was in Washington, D.C., to promote the film and I was fortunate enough to talk to her about the film, what she thought of her then relatively unknown co-star Simon Baker (The Mentalist) and being one of the up and coming young black actresses of her generation.

And of course now after scouring through my files, I can’t actually find my interview with her. Tremendous.
Anyway, I can happily report that Sanaa Lathan is as nice, down to Earth and cool as she is attractive so clearly she’s easily one of my favorite celebrity encounters so far. If for some reason you haven’t, make sure to check out Sanaa in the fantastic The Best Man Holiday.
