I like it, but just like “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” I’m wondering if this isn’t a case of too much for one movie. We’ve got Jamie Foxx’s Electro, someone who is using The Green Goblin’s glider (Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osborne perhaps?) and some mech-inspired abomination masquerading as The Rhino. Sigh. None of the movie villain looks are all that encouraging though, but at least it’s got Spider-Man in the #1 comic book movie costume.
It’s weird as I’d completely be on board for a Spider-Man movie where he’s taking on The Sinister Six, but I’m not getting the sense this is a Spidey-villain team up and I’m wondering if there’s enough time to develop Electro, work in Rhino and somehow create a new subplot with The Green Goblin. Seems like an awful lot to throw in one movie.
But I’m willing to give it a shot since I loved the first film so much and can’t think of a better Spider-Man than Andrew Garfield’s perfect portrayal.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” comes to theaters May 2.
