After news that Marvel Studios narrowed its choices to play the lead role in the Ant-Man movie to Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, it was one of those rare casting announcements where no matter who was chosen, we’d have a more than capable actor in the role. So now, it’s official:
In a statement released by Marvel.com, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige announced that Rudd will be the latest Marvel superhero. “When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star,” Feige said. “We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy. We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life.”
Of course, this may not mean a whole lot if Wright’s tease on Twitter means anything, which if it does, suggests Rudd’s role may not be as prominent as we might expect.
What do you think? Happy about the announcement? Wish MS went another direction with Ant-Man’s casting?
