New to Blu-Ray/DVD for April 14, 2014 – "Ride Along," "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty"
Ride Along – Kevin Hart scored his career-best with this buddy comedy with Ice Cube. Hart plays a security guard who wants to marry his girlfriend (Tika Sumpter), but must get the blessing of her overprotective brother (Ice Cube).
Grossing over $100 million ($134 million), this marks Hart’s first big crossover hit and hints at the potential he has as a headliner.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty – Ben Stiller plays a quiet man who finds solace in his daydreams until his magazine job is threatened and he is forced to take a journey more fascinating than any of his dreams.
This was initially positioned as as a possible Oscar contender, but it didn’t prove to be the stuff that dreams are made of for critics.
The Nut Job – Surly the Squirrel (Will Arnett) has to make good after a screw-up and returns from his exile to aid his old friends break into a nut store in order to make it through the winter just as a gang is planning to use the store as its front for a bank robbery.
Purely a family movie if you need something to keep the kids occupied. Otherwise, there’s so many other things you could be doing with your time.
