New on Blu-Ray/DVD – June 3, 2014 – “Lone Survivor,” “#Robocop”

Lone Survivor – A gruesome take of an actual June 2005 mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg) and his team are left on their own to fend for their survival. The title kinda gives it away, but Director Peter Berg doesn’t give audiences much of a reason to invest in the story outside of a serious attention to detail. It’s a better tribute film than something you’d want to watch over and over again.
Lone Survivor (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD with UltraViolet)

Robocop (2014) – A remake of the 1987 classic with Joel Kinnaman starring as Alex Murphy, a good cop critically wounded and transformed by massive conglomerate OmniCorp into a part-man, part-robot police officer. Nowhere near as fun as the original, but the special effects are at least solid. Skip this even if they offer it for a dollar.
