Help me make my wife a wrestling fan
Or at least not hate on me watching it. Ok, so I’ve got an opening.
My wife (bless her) has decided — as part of my Valentine’s Day present — to watch 10 wrestling matches with me. So I’ve got 10 oh-so precious spots to convince her that my weekly obsession is not stupid and silly.
But geesh, 10 matches is a lot of pressure. I’ve got some ideas — Stone Cold vs. Bret Hart (Wrestlemania 13), Cena vs Punk (Money in the Bank) are locks, but figured I could use all the help I could get here in creating the ultimate wrestling viewing list for her.
So what would you suggest I definitely add to the list?
Easy. Trish Stratus vs. Lita on WWE RAW December 2004. The night they main evented RAW. Since I’m now deviating away from WWE at this moment. I would totally recommend Ring of Honor as I saw one hell of a six-man tag-team match between ACH, Cedric Alexander, and Matt Sydal vs. AJ Styles and the Young Bucks (representing the Bullet Club). One of the best wrestling matches I had ever seen in years. I couldn’t take my eyes off of that match.
Thanks for the suggestions. Trish vs Lita definitely sounds like a good idea and I need to track down this ROH/NJPW match. I haven’t seen it.
It was on last Saturday on ROH TV…. if you have it in your cable/satellite provider. Check it out. It’s real wrestling.
If you can put in the match promos, here are a couple suggestions.
Hulk v. Warrior.
Flair v. Savage (Wrestlemania)
Sting v. Flair (1st Clash of the Champions)
Luger v. Hogan (WCW finally wins)
Bret v. Roddy (Wrestlemania)
Bret v. Owen
Shane Douglas v. 2 Cold (Birth of ECW)
Any of Dean Malenko v. Eddy Guerrero (ECW)
Sabu v. RVD (ECW)
Sting getting kicked out of the 4 Horsemen and road to the title
I’m like a month too late to this but I think the first few TLC matches demonstrate the best of wrestling. You genuinely have no idea what is coming next and it just gets bigger and better as it progresses.
I’m way late with this but, adding women’s wrestling helped me get my mom and girlfriend into it. Also, the larger scale of WrestleMania made wrestling larger than life in their eyes. These matches have a good mix of entertainment, psychology and wrestling. I tried to stare clear of blood and too much violence. Nothing better than these matches…
1) Trish vs Micki James WM22.
2) Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker WM 25
3) Edge and Christian vs The Dudley’s vs The Hardy’s WMX7
4) Any Rey Mystery match with Eddie Guerrero from WCW or WM21
5) Batista vs The Undertaker WM23
6) Warrior vs Macho Man WM 7
I’m amazingly still working on it, but midway through you were definitely correct about the blood and violence. War Games 92 did not go over well. ;-)
I actually have a couple on your list :-)
