No more Mystique for Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence is done turning blue for the X-Men franchise.
MTV News asked Lawrence if her latest spin as the blue skinned mutant in “X-Men: Apocalypse” would be her last hurrah and she replied “It is my last one, yes.”
Honestly, this is for the best for X-Men fans as Mystique and Magneto have appeared in every X-Men film since the start of the franchise 15 years ago. Having an Academy award winner starring in the films made it difficult to not make Mystique a main focus of the films, but now it’s time for some more X-villains to take their time in the spotlight. I’ve got a few ideas as to who should be stepping up to fill the void.
Lawrence won’t be the only ‘First Class’ era X-Man to hang up the mutant banner as Nicholas Hoult aka Beast/Hank McCoy also said his contract will be completed after ‘Apocalypse’ as well. Unlike Lawrence, he’s interested in returning to the role:
“The first one did so well and [X-Men: Days of Future Past [Blu-ray]
] got received so brilliantly,” Hoult said. “It’s like, ‘Wow, people really want to see the films’ and the best thing is it’s a great crew and cast to work with and he’s a fun character. I have a good time playing him so I’d keep making them.”
Mixed emotions on JL leaving the franchise. My first thought on Hoult was “Of course he wants to keep doing this, his prospects aren’t nearly as bright as JL’s.” He has been good, though.
Interesting. She’s been fine in it, but I don’t see losing her as that big a loss to the franchise.
hoult better stay. he does great in the role. And well its not like warm bodies was a mega smash.
No sir, it was not! LOL
