Interesting bit of news from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ Director James Gunn who confirmed on Facebook that Kang, one of the all-time great Avengers enemies is tied up in THE WORST LICENSE HOSTAGE SITUATION EVER.
Kang somehow got caught under the Fantastic Four banner. Whoever negotiated this deal was pretty much doing a massive fire sale with the Marvel character licenses as Kang is far more noted for being a major opponent of The Avengers than the FF.
Mind you, according to Fox, the FF only has one enemy anyway — some alternative universe version of a man who moderately dresses like Dr. Doom. It’s more than a little disappointing as Kang would make a perfect villain for the Avengers films as he’s the kind of character that is a different and viable opponent after the team finishes up with Thanos in ‘Infinity War.’
At this point, I’m actually finding myself torn on this issue. Fox makes lame to crappy versions of the X-Men and Fantastic Four, but it’s not like they stole these licenses in the middle of the night from Marvel.
As it stands, Marvel doesn’t want anyone to connect the FF and the X-Men with Marvel so that means no comics, action figures or anything that would make people remember they exist. This logic doesn’t get any less stupid the more I hear it BTW.
The FF is stuck in comic limbo land after the series’ recent cancellation while the X-Men have literally been sent off planet so Marvel legitimately has become an Avengers world and everyone else is just living in it. In all of this foolishness, it’s clear that no side really cares about who suffers the most in this idiotic custody battle.
