Awesome Con 2016 – Cosplay Gallery Day 1
Cosplayers bring their A game for Awesome Con 2016
One of my favorite aspects of every convention is checking out all the cosplayers. It doesn’t matter if they’re wearing store bought costumes or spending countless hours handcrafting the outfits themselves it’s just cool seeing the creativity. Awesome Con 2016 didn’t disappoint.
Naturally there were plenty of cosplayers based on popular franchises like The Avengers, Spider-Man, Game of Thrones, but there were also some cosplayers who went away from the norm. There were even cosplayers who did Mary Poppins, which I found completely cool.
Awesome Con cosplayers are some of the more sociable and they’re more than willing to break down all the various resources, time and inspiration for their outfits. One trend I’m seeing more and more lately are parents either getting in on the fun and cosplaying with their children or getting their children into their hobby at an early age.

Based on costume choices, The Walking Dead is staring to trail behind Game of Thrones on the cosplay front. I saw a lot more of Cersei, Daenerys, Littlefinger and crew than I did Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon and company. Maybe The Walking Dead fans are in a slight protest over the Season 6 finale?
One thing I’ve noticed lately are these really clever takes on the characters like Steampunk Avengers. Two that really stood out were Captain America and The Winter Soldier dressed up like medieval knights and more hybrids of characters from different genres.
Stay tuned in the next few days as I’ll be showcasing all of the Awesome Con cosplay from Saturday. I took a lot more pics so it may take me a little longer to edit and post them. If you were one of the cosplayers I shot feel free to drop a line. I’d love to hear from you!
