Wonder Woman trailer is here and it’s wondrous

Wonder Woman trailer shows total kick tail Gal Gadot

For the first time in years, upcoming DC movies have me more excited than their Marvel counterparts. Warner Bros. dropped the Wonder Woman trailer and it looks incredible.

Between this and Justice League, I’m honestly not sure which DC movie has me more stoked for 2017.

With all the unfortunate hate the Ghostbusters cast endured, I doubt Gal Gadot is going to have any issues. She looks every bit the part of Wonder Woman. It’s fitting in this modern era of comic book movies Wonder Woman kicks off the first female-led superhero movie. Your move Black Widow and Captain Marvel.

There’s just so much to love here. I’m a big fan of period films, which is why I loved the approach taken with Captain America: The First Avenger. Taking a similar route with Wonder Woman is smart as it moves the focus off the events from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The attention here is solely on Wonder Woman.

From the Amazon battle against the Nazis, Chris Pine being his usual dashing self and a glowing Golden Lasso of Truth this looks like Wonder Woman done right. Director Patty Jenkins clearly understands what makes Wonder Woman such a fantastic character. The highlight was Gadot having some big time amazing Wonder Woman moments.

As far as 2016’s showdowns we’ve still got Suicide Squad for DC and Doctor Strange for Marvel. I’m optimistic about Suicide Squad. Next year Marvel brings up Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. If you’re a comic book fan, two strong entries from DC can only help the overall quality of comic book movies. Marvel will definitely benefit from the competition and we’ll be in the best time frame for some boundary pushing efforts from both Marvel and DC.

Wonder Woman arrives in theaters June 23, 2017. Let’s get that countdown started.
