SDCCC 2016: New Doctor Strange trailer shows MCU’s magical side

Strange trailer brings magic to the Marvel movies

Marvel has mastered the art of translating its characters to the big screen. It started getting significant credibility with any project with Guardians of the Galaxy and then Ant-Man. So while Doctor Strange probably should be a challenge to bring to the big screen, Marvel has cracked the key. The new Strange trailer looks weird, out there and unlike any other Marvel movie. In other words, chalk up another hit for the machine that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel fans have already been spoiled by the great casting for the films, but Doctor Strange might boast the most acclaimed assemblage of talent. There’s Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. And then there’s Benedict Wong as Wong, Mads Mikkelsen and Rachel McAdams.

The Strange trailer definitely has a unique vibe. I had the same feeling watching the GOTG trailer. There’s the traditional superhero action from The Avengers side, but it’s really cool to see the other more fringe sides of the Marvel universe.

And in Cumberbatch, Marvel looks to have yet another appreciative and down to Earth star headlining a new franchise. Check him out greeting fans waiting in line the night before to see the Marvel panel.

How cool is that? I love seeing the stars personally interacting with their fans beyond the typical meet and greets. What do you think of the trailer?
