SAGA’s Lying Cat statue set for Local Comic Shop Day

SAGA has been one of Image Comics’ most popular comics since its inception. And Lying Cat has been one of the standout characters. Lying Cat has emerged as a bit of a breakout character. I haven’t started reading SAGA yet (I know, I know), but even I know about Lying Cat.

To capitalize on its popularity, Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment are releasing an exclusive SAGA statue of Lying Cat. The statue will be available Nov. 19 as part of the 2016 Local Comic Shop Day.

Image Comics/Skybound is pleased to reveal an exclusive SAGA statue of the fan-favorite character Lying Cat in celebration of this year’s Local Comic Shop Day. The limited edition black and white statue is hand numbered.

Local Comic Shop Day previously was held on Small Business Saturday. That’s the day after Black Friday in an effort to encourage holiday shoppers to remember to support their neighborhood businesses.

‘We polled participating retailers if they preferred to have Local Comic Shop Day® on November 19th or November 26th,’ said ComicsPRO President Peter Dolan (Main Street Comics, Middletown NY) in a statement. ‘By a margin of 73% to 27%, our retailers wanted to change the date to the earlier Saturday so it would have a distinct identity separate from Small Business Saturday.’

Marco Davanzo, ComicsPRO Executive Director, said nearly 400 comic book shops participated in Local Comic Shop Day last year.
