Netflix is once again saving the day for pop culture fans. Young Justice was one of the most revered comic book shows of the past decade. It was smart, funny, respectful of the source material and well animated. So of course Cartoon Network canceled it. But now Young Justice Season 3 is a reality.
Fans have been pleading for a resurrection and Netflix seemed like the best option. Netflix hasn’t shied away from stacking its original content with a ton of comic book properties. Marvel has gotten a lot of love with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the upcoming Iron Fist. But getting Young Justice is a major coup for DC fans.
‘The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,’ said Sam Register, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series president, in a statement .’We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.’
Young Justice was one of my all-time favorite shows. Season 2 had a great cliffhanger so I’m excited about what’s in store for Season 3. The prospect of binging on Young Justice in one sitting already has me worried about a lack of sleep.
Now if only Netflix could convince Marvel to let it handle Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes we’ll be in business.
