Stone Cold, The Rock join WWE Retro Series 2 and more figure news
Mattel unveiled a ton of exciting reveals for fans through most of its lines. As usual, I’m mostly here for all the Flashbacks info and with a much improved Sting, retro Hall of Fame figures and early era looks for the Ruthless Aggression stars, there’s a lot to love.
Retro Series 2 features some important stars from The Attitude Era who just missed legit Hasbro figures by a few years. And they are legit must get figures with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Kane. Hopefully a Mankind and Triple H are in the works for Series 3.
Toys R Us continues its Network Spotlight line with a Money in the Bank version Dean Ambrose. This is from when he cashed in to become the new WWE champion. Fittingly, the figure includes a WWE title belt and MITB briefcase.
For old school basic (booo) collectors, Mattel has a Class of 2002 set. This features a unique look at some of the big movers and shakers at that time with fresh faces Brock Lesnar, Batista and John Cena and returning stars Scott Hall and Kevin Nash in their n.W.o. shirts. Both Outsiders have new first time to retail head sculpts.
Toys R Us gets another exclusive series featuring Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Brock Lesnar and Sting. The Sting figure sports a much better headsculpt that should be the norm for every Surfer Sting going forward. This is also one of my favorite color schemes for Sting attires so I’m hoping Mattel has Elite plans for this one.
TRU doesn’t get all the exclusive love as WWE Shop is getting a special red attired AJ Styles figure. If this were an Elite figure, I’d definitely grab it.
In addition to these reveals, some news is rolling on the rumor mill with potential Elite lineups and confirmed Basic lineups. First, the rumored Elites.
Series 52
D-Lo Brown
Ken Shamrock
Kofi Kingston
Seth Rollins
The Miz
Xavier Woods
Series 53
Alexa Bliss
Big E
Chris Jericho
Heath Slater
Kevin Owens

New Day is likely in more colorful attire. Maybe I can resist, but I doubt it. The big news though is adding Shamrock and D-Lo to my Attitude Era collection. That brings the Nation of Domination two members away (Kama and Mark Henry) away from completion.
