Red Robin might be back, but there’s still plenty of trouble for Team Batman as a new mystery unfolds. Writer James Tynion IV sets up a number of interesting subplots with the various members of the team. Red Robin might be overexerting himself to make up for lost time, Clayface considers a serum that would cure him and possibly reveal the real monster inside and Batman is uncovering a massive plot based on the foundation of his team.

The most intriguing element is not all of them necessarily need to be connected to this current arc with the Victim’s Syndicate returning.

Tynion has once again found the sweet spot of character development, action and drama to make for the most well-rounded and entertaining team book in all of DC.

Joe Bennett takes art responsibilities this issue. Bennett has performed fill-in duty sporadically, but his work is always crisp with great framing during the action sequences and dramatic camera angles in the more dialogue heavy moments.

Tynion ends this issue on a strong cliffhanger that sees the arc making good on its promise to create the Fall of the Batmen. It’s bad for Batman and company, but this continues to be a strong read.
