DC Comics reviews for 12/13/17
Wonder Woman #36
For so long Wonder Woman has been portrayed as a warrior conflicted about battle it was nice to see her get mad and lay the smack down on some opponents. With Grail, Jason and even Darkseid, writer James Robinson definitely has more than enough threats for Wonder Woman to battle. Maybe this isn’t as cerebral as Greg Rucka’s run, but it’s fun to just watch Wonder Woman kick some tail every so often. And with one major reveal at the end of the issue, this issue is just a precursor to what could be one of the most epic battles of 2017.
Carlo Pagulayan seemed inspired by the set up for this issue as he gets to constantly put Wonder Woman in action. The fight sequences were very strong. Jason Pas and Sean Parsons share inking duties, which likely led to some breaks in the consistency particularly during the Steve Trevor/Giganta sequences. The final page really left me excited and thrilled about what Robinson and Pagulayan have in store for next issue.
