WWE Elite The Revival Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder figure review
Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder aka The Revival have been one of the main reasons tag team wrestling got interesting again. They operated at an any era elite level in feuds with American Alpha, DIY and even Cass and Enzo. These guys have been a big want of mine for months now. As usual, Mattel went with Basic versions first, but now I can finally bring the Top Guys to my display. And they’re well worth the wait.
Package: I love the NXT packaging. Granted, it’s got a ton of wasted space, but the big white X against the yellow backdrop really helps them stand out on pegs.
In keeping with the specialty lines, Mattel put more effort into the bio, which is even more helpful for a tag team. The package insert even has a Revival logo, which was a nice touch.
Likeness: From the neck up, The Revival looks perfect. Both Dawson and Wilder sport excellent head sculpts. Dawson is more expressive with a bit of a snarl. It works for him though. It’s the torsos that somewhat throw off the likeness. Mattel has yet to make a stocky body type like an Arn Anderson that isn’t fat, but also not too slender either. In lieu of new parts, this is the best option available, but I’d love to see Mattel whip up that in-between torso.

Scale: Both Dawson and Wilder clock in at 5’10”. They’re eye to eye with Enzo Amore and looking up at pretty much everyone else on the roster especially the 7 foot Big Cass. Enzo’s hair throws off the scale somewhat, but The Revival are scaled correctly. even with Dash’s head being a tad too big.
Paint: As one of the WWE’s no-frills teams, The Revival hardly have the most complex ring gear. It’s an 80s throwback with simple dark blue tights and their initials on the side.
The only distinction is the white with red trim boots on Dawson, The Revival catchphrase on Dawson’s elbow and knee pad and Wilder’s hairy chest. There’s no way these guys wouldn’t have been Four Horsemen at some point in the 90s.
Articulation: One great aspect about the base body is there’s no significant articulation restrictions. The Revival is a pretty straightforward tag team so there’s no need to try and simulate any aerial moves. There’s no move that will be a problem hitting with these guys.
The Revival has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- bicep
- elbow
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- waist
- hip
- knee (double jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: The Revival are basic dudes and Mattel didn’t go hard on their accessories. Wilder and Dawson each come with one accessory — an NXT tag team title. I love the look of the title as that design is unique. They’re a dull version of the titles though and lack the shine and gold-like plating we’ve seen on most of the modern titles.
But, given The Revival probably won’t be on heavy Elite rotation, I wish Mattel also included their T-shirts.
Worth it? I got The Revival for the standard $20 price tag. Naturally, Target has had several WWE sales since then. Considering the lack of flash and coveted accessories, you might be able to wait it out for a sale.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
Where to Get It? The NXT line is a Target exclusive so that’s the only option here unless you want to significantly overpay on secondary retailers like Amazon.
