Chris Hemsworth might trade in hammer to star in Men in Black spinoff

Never let it be said that Chris Hemsworth was afraid to branch out. With his latest role as Thor in Avengers: Infinity War set to arrive in theaters on May 4, he could be swapping out his hammer for a memory eraser.

The Wrap is reporting Hemsworth is in talks to appear in Sony’s Men in Black reboot/spinoff.

F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, Fate of the Furious) is directing the film with a script from Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (Iron Man).

This wouldn’t be the first Sony remake he has appeared in as he stole the show in Ghostbusters. Hemsworth proved with Thor: Ragnarok he can easily handle more action comedy roles. The real question would be who would be a good partner to pair him up with?

I’m sure there’s already some chatter of throwing Kevin Hart in there. While it would make for a fun visual to see the 5’4″ Hart working alongside the 6’3″ Hemsworth that would be a weird pairing.

What about Hemsworth’s Thor co-star Idris Elba? Elba could play the longtime, seen it all done it all role made famous by Tommy Lee Jones while Hemsworth could play the new recruit a la Will Smith.

There won’t be a long time to decide on the cast as Sony has the film slated for a June 14, 2019 release date.

The Wrap says this new spinoff would be more along the lines of Jurassic World in how it honored the past installments, but able to go in a new direction with new characters.

What do you think? Could you see Hemsworth headlining a new Men In Black series?
